Nick Relampagos began remodeling kitchens and baths early in 2000.  Son of an architect and brother to an artist and landscape designer, Nick couldn't draw a stick man to save his life.  But the apple didn't fall too far from the tree. What he did have was mechanical ability, construction knowledge and vision to design and see an end product.

His interest in concrete materialized when seeing the works of Buddy Rhodes and Fu-Tung Cheng.  The desire to make concrete countertops hits in 2005 when he moved his family to the East Bay in an Eichler home where he thought concrete countertops would look great in this new home.

At the same time, a client expressed interest in concrete countertops and Nick went off to take some training classes at Cheng Designs and Buddy Rhodes Studios.
Armed with the training and tools needed to fabricate quality concrete countertops, Nick set up shop in his two car garage. It's Concrete was born!  Within months, work progressed and the garage was quickly outgrown and the shop was moved to a commercial space in Hayward, CA.

Determined to prove the possibilities of concrete and inspire consumers to think beyond granite and butcher block tops.  Nick continued defining and advancing this natural substrate throughout the years, exploring new forms and finishing processes with the hopes of bringing concrete to the forefront of high-end interiors.

In 2007, Nick began working with Buddy Rhodes.  The relationship grew though the years of working with Buddy's concrete mix.  This later progressed to product development in creating Buddy's GFRC line, designing molds such as the Sausalito Lounge chair and marketing them through the Buddy Rhodes Line of concrete molds.

In 2008, Nick uses his advanced knowledge of fabricating with concrete and his ability to instruct others.  He now conducts the Buddy Rhodes Comprehensive Concrete Class as well as the Advanced Artisan Pro Class held at the Buddy Rhodes Studios.

In 2010, Nick won the Best Integral Sink award (seen below) with his Igami Sink and continues to produce innovative designs that are unmatched.
